I have been making paper didgeridoos for years!
Each time I am starting a workshop people ask me the same question:
Are you sponsored by Renova?
Renova is one of the most interesting portuguese brands. The brand was born in 1818 they started as paper producers in the spring of the river Almonda, in Torres Novas, in 1939.
Throughout the years they have been developing quality products made from paper. In 2005 they created the black toilet paper that has been a tremendous success since then.
Portuguese did it again: they reinvented something traditional and made sexy toilet paper!
I am not sponsored by Renova but I stand as firm ambassador of this brand that keeps innovating and producing quality!
So today I went to visit the factory and get to know the people behind this project that I admire and show them the paper didgeridoos that I’ve been doing. Here some images from this great day.
It was a pleasure to meet and discuss with Marketing Director Luís Saramago, the CEO Paulo Pereira da Silva and Logistics Director Fernando Monteiro.

Getting closer to the factory located in a great place in the center of Portugal.
The lobby and main entrance is a super friendly and well decorated place.
I love those rules, they should apply in every company!
Showcasing the unique colored toilet paper.
After meeting with Marketing Director, Luís Saramago and CEO, Paulo Pereira da Silva.
A replica of the paper done in the factory next to the black edition.
When entering the hall we have the feeling that we are entering a toilet paper roll itself!
The factory is built ON the spring of the Almonda river, in Serra de Aire, and uses its waters for the production, giving them back later in the process.
In the old times women came wash clothes in this place.
Some paper from the production ready to be re-recycled into new paper.
Office paper and left-overs from the production.
Paper fibers ready to be reintroduced into the production of new paper.
One of the main paper making machines. The paper fibers enter on one side and a roll of new paper gets out on the other side.
Here the fibers are distributed in a plane and after they will dry.
Fresh made rolls waiting to be processed.
This is where paper didgeridoos magic happens! This machine is making the inside of the rolls – the core.
Two papers come together and are glued with PVA.
The fresh rolls ready to be wraped with paper.
All the rolls stored, waiting to be used.
Toilet and kitchen paper rolls cores stacked.
The company educates their workers rather than punishing – this basket full of waste is 100euro worth, be careful!
Colored paper packed and waiting to be processed.
Ready to be exported to Algeria.
Ready for a lot of countries. In this precise moment they were loading a container to Lithuania curiously!
Corridors and corridors of stocks!
A goodbye photo with my friendly guide Fernando Monteiro.
